And how does it make sure that the help is sustainable?

On July 24, fierce fighting broke out in the border area between Cambodia and Thailand, which has been disputed for decades. Several people on both sides were killed, thousands were forced to leave their homes and are now displaced. “EMDR Cambodia wanted to become active immediately, but has limited resources”, says Naysim Hong, member of the Executive Committee. “Therefore, we mainly try to support hospitals and health centres in the region with whom we are in contact already. Besides health workers like doctors and nurses, we see the local authorities as key persons.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”row_remark”][vc_column el_class=”col_remark”][vc_column_text el_class=”text_detail text_blog_quote” css=”.vc_custom_1756441187686{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-right: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;margin-left: 0px !important;}”]We are sure that these workshops are sustainable, because we train the trainers resp. the key persons.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”text_detail”]Training key persons for sustainability

The stakeholders mentioned live in the provinces of Siem Reap, Battambang, Takeo and Kampong Chhnang. They went through trainings in Trauma Informed Care or Psychological First Aid provided by EMDR Cambodia before. Now, EMDR not only supports them mentally, but strengthens their knowledge and shows them ways for self-care for themselves and their families.

It will take some time to see the results of this support started in early August.
